VINYL Floor Install Pics

Well, you guys said you wanted to see a few pics and how the Vinyl one piece floor was. Overall, I would give it a 6 out of 10. The guy on the phone talked it up pretty good aout how good it fit. I don't understand if it is for the 4wd standard cab why the heck they couldn't make it fit without major trimming. There is a molded dish right below the parking brake cable I used fro reference, it was pretty much the only thing that could have been used.I had to initially take about 5.5 inches off the front of it, about 2-3" of each side. the center hump has a few wrinkles in it, I think they will settle down over time. But by taking the 5" off the front it became about 3" short in the back, but the black storage tray hid that. I guess I would reccomend it for those who have very good patience and are willing to take a lot of time to get it to fit good. I put this in a customers truck, I'm still debating if I am going to put it in my truck. Here are a few pics

It was 159 shipped

Looks good from the pictures. One should hope that the wrinkles settle over a short period of time. I was thinking about one for my truck, debated going to carpet, but i know i'll ruin it in a week... seems that there isn't anything i could find thats close to the rubber floors i have now.

Might as well have gotten carpet. The carpet I got fit pretty good, but it isn't as tough. It isn't that hard to clean though. Big floormats help a lot. I did carpet to reduce noise.

I have done a vinyl mat in a truck before ( it was a chebby, sorry), I ordered the stuff from discount or auto zone. I used some carpet adhesive after I got it all fitted in, then a heat gun to warm it up a little, and pulled it tight. Looked pretty good for an amateur.

If I remember, that stuff was a little thicker than that looks.

Still a good job on that Dodge, DNR.

The reason they leave them long is because you can ALWAYS cut some off, can't add more if it comes up short. They are all different and no two are the same, they use patterns not the actual vehicle, you can't expect anybody to have hundreds of vehicles to "custom fit" carpets to. Plus i like the idea that i made it fit right. Its not for the novice and isn't a bolt on... btw i didn't think any 1st gen was a bolt on... goto the newer plug and play trucks if you don't want to think or get ur hands dirty.

My good friend is an electrician and whenever I am working with him he Say's "I'd rather have 6 feet too much than 6" short" when we are pulling wire. "It's always better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it"

Problem with covering the whole floor with vinyl is if you get water under it - from windshield leak, vent leak, firewall leak, the usual places - it's gonna be trapped under the vinyl and take a long time to dry out if ever and rot your floor. That's what happened to the crew I bought. The wife's Caravan has rubber backed carpeting, had a leak from a blocked cowl drain two months ago, I pulled trim and lifted the carpet best I could to dry it out and it's still wet and won't dry out un less I pull the seats to pull the carpet. Water leaks are death to our old trucks. After I repair the crew's floor it will get a spray on bedliner to go under the carpet - because sometime it will get wet! OK, I'll get off my soapbox. Sorry.

I installed my vinyl mat in the cold and it was wrinkled pretty bad. I didnt need the truck so I left the seats out and let it set for over a month. The mat laid down almost wrinkle free in the 90* heat. The club cab mat is really too long, I had to trim about 4'' off the back side.

When I got my truck, I had a factory rubber flooring and the sun here in AZ has torn it up and I cant find any OEM flooring. DNR how thick is your new flooring? I think it looks good, nice install.

Thanks
