Vibration/drone at 70++

Ok...This drone/vibration issue is tappin me.. Under hard accel or light accel above 65 I get this haul from the underside towards the back it feels... Installed a new driveshaft, thought it was the answer, told myself it was the answer "cause I dropped like 400 buks" I have no rear blocks, angles are really good.. Flexplate is tight... Could it be my tires, the faster I go the worse it gets.. Tires came balanced from Four wheel parts... Like on cruise control at 70 it is there a little, go up a hill and it is really there, stomp on it and it won't go away untill I let off... I can't be getting that much axle wrap I don't think... Who's got some ideas form me.. Thanks

My 92 would do the same thing. No noise no vibes till 70 plus, at 80 noise and bad vibes. Pulled diff cover 2 teeth missing and too much end play. Changed out ring, pinion, & bearings. Still had a very slight vibe above 70. Pulled drive shaft down completely & found 1 u-joint that was loose in the shaft, had shaft cut off and new end put on, fixed the prob completely. Good luck DNRCustoms you will find it.

Both yokes tight? A t/c or axle bearing going bad? Pinion trying to point up to far under power?

what kinda of tires are you running? My old rig with goodyear MTR's would howl like crazy above 65 for some reason.

Didn't you put a new shiny driveshaft in your truck?

Well, I'm about 95% sure it is the torque converter is the culprit for my annoying vibration/drone.. I was messing with it on the hwy this weekend and with the tc unlocked, I can get up to 80 and no drone or vib, once I lock the converter.. It all goes bad.. So.. what else can it be?? It has to be the tc.. I'm not a big tranny guy, but unlocked it is fine. Locked it isn't.. So must be the tc... Right??

sounds like my truck. Do you know if your trans had straight cut gears in it? Mine apparently does and i am told that is what is making the annoying looping/drone sound. I talked to Dave at Goerend for a few hours trying to figure it out and took the truck to an Goerend installer and i am told its normal for the straight cut gears.

I am working on a good sound deadening solution for the cab to help block it out.

so, yours only does it when locked up say 65 mph and up?? If it were gears you think it would happen locked or not. I have my floor insulated pretty good and it still drives me nuts.. I'm gonna go talk to the local trans guy. See what he says. I'll ask about the straight cut gears. If that the case, can it be changed without to much$$$ involved.

Is it possible to swap in a G-56 or a NV5600? That's what I would do, but only because I am a manual guy. Built autos are pretty fun though.

on my truck its still there when unlock just not as noticalble. Since your truck is insulated good you may only hear it when it is at its loudest. The back of my cab is completley exposed so it really amplifies the sound. The OD section must be pulled to change them out.
