I have one of KTA's 14mm pump heads. It is in a fancy plastic case and keeps my papers from blowing off my desk. Someday i'll use it. -Jim-

Here are three examples of delivery valves for the bosch VE injection pump. Top to bottom: cummins 6bt 205 pump, VW 1.5, and cummins 4bt industrial? The two components on the right of the page (right to left) are the retraction piston holder and retraction piston. The p7100 crew refers to these 2 components as the DV.

This is a close up of the retraction piston from a 205 pump and the one for a 1.5 VW. These act much like the needle and seat in a carburetor. They are very similar to the untrained eye in this semi blurry photo. The cummins version is only a hair larger in OD. The difference lies underneath the seat area. See how full fuel flow is "controlled" by the collar under the seat on the VW piston (right), at least until it opens past that point. Now, see how there is... NO COLLAR ON OURS (said tons of fuel flow once the valve unseats). This is what the p7100 crowd is talking about when they say "full cut DV's". The more of the control collar that is cut off the more fuel that flows in the same OD valve with all the same dimensions. That being said the existing DV's are fairly close to maxed out as is, so tomorrow we'll persue other options.

Hello? Is there anybody in there? Just smile if you can hear me.... Is there anyone at home?

Thanks for the info. Smarter folks than me have told me there's no big HP to be found in 1st gen DV's and now I know why.

If I had a VW diesel I'd be robbing the DV's off my core pump instead of posting this.

I have recently acquired a 114 (non-intercooled) pump as well, I am going to post comparisons between those DV's and ones from the 205 pump. They look to be the same, but we're going to clear thing up for the record. Also, I'm going to release this photo with a bonus, I will compare them to my new experimental DV, there is a substantial flow gain to be had if these work. It may require us to go to stock p7100 ID sized lines and end cam plate failures.

I have other major developments as well, It is apparent that Bosch knew about the AFC grind mod before our trucks were in the picture. I have discovered a stock AFC lever that is sort of a half grind. Also, with all the complaints about the OS / BD fuel pin galling out there, I have found a follower pin with a different grind on the end which may alleviate that problem. It is also apparent that custom ground cams are out there for the VE with lift figures rumored at nearly 4mm.

There is rumor on the wind of the possibility of a VE pushing 600 cc's or more in the very near future. That's a ton of fuel considering a competition p7100 (which is physically twice the pump in size) is typically in the 1000 cc range.

Hey stillsmokin I have some interesting information about that off-highway VE Pump I have pulled apart. It has different plates, larger fuel openings(not DV's), stiffer springs, I will have to measure the cam plate to see if there is any difference. I will do my best to post pictures soon. Great job by the way!

Is this info from 1stgen.org?

Just curious as to how many other guys are involved in the VE hp race.

Any luck with this?
