VE messed Up
VE messed Up
I have been wondering why everyone else seems to always get better results with mods than dear old "Boatnik". Well, my pin is stuck.
The little pin that rides on the fuel pin under the AFC diaphram dosen't want to play nicely. It goes in it's hole and doesn't want to come out. When I can coax it out it wants to stay out. That wouldn't be bad if you didn't mind the smoke , but it doesn't come all the way out either. I pulled the AFC pin and polished it up nice and shiney. I used a bore brush and cleaned the barrel. I blasted everything out with carb. cleaner and blew it dry with compressed air. I pulled the plug out of the front of the pump to get to the back side of the pin and cleaned and oiled as best I could. I lubed everything so it is slick as glass. Why did it stick? Is this a by product of cranking on the fuel screw? I'm looking at a tear down of the pump if what I have done doesn't fix the problem. I have lost 5 to 10 pounds of boost and EGT"s are low.

I have one that's lazy, the first blast to 35 psi and then its fine. The best guess I can come up with is that the seal the seals the pin is either too tight around it or it becomes just a little bit gummy and is grabbing the pin and not letting it move.
I imagine you've tried spraying Kroil or another penatrating oil down on it to try and get it loosened up.

I put it together last night and drove it to work this morning. 20 psi boost is the best it will do &%*&^%*&%%$%$#&$#&^$&^
I guess I know where I will be tonight. The top of the pump is coming off, again. What if I just seal off the hole and leave the pin in the trash?

. Now that I am over my rant I think I will take the more sensible approach and try to fix the problem correctly.
The small pin has too sharp an edge to ride smoothly up the steep ramp on the BullyDog fuel pin. It is my suspicion that this has put a load on the pin to the point it has damaged the bore that the small pin rides. There are minor gouge marks on the ramp surface of the fuel pin. I'll need to find a seal/gasket kit brfore I charge into the VE. The truck runs OK but I miss the extra power. I like to play too.
