Sounds like you're on the bleeding edge of a "Run-Away" condition.

Back off the main fuel screw about a half turn.

Yeah it defiantly sounds like the edge of run away. Just back the screw out some and you should be fine.

My 4BT had this problem, turns out it was the fuel screw in to far. I have no Idea how I managed to turn it in so far but after it was backed out a bit the truck ran fine!

Mine does the same. If your rpm lever is sitting on the pump casing at idle with no screw, you're fuel screw is in really far. I would back it out 1/4 turn at a time to stop it from running away. Thats just how these 114 pumps are with stock sticks.

but i dont have stock sticks i have 6x20s in it, but i still thinking its just about to run away, becasue it ran away then i backed it back a quarter and now its on the verge of running away, and no its not sitting on the casting is 1/8th off of it, its hitting my fuel line on the other side,

its funny how diffent the two pump are, the fuel screw was in as far as it could go and the throdle was hitting the case and it was still idling to high
