Valves won't open.

So, i'm looking at buying A 91.5 Cummins that don't run. The guy says it turns over but the valves don't open. Any idea's? It's A good deal so i'll probably get it anyway, just wondering if its an easy fix.

Are the adjustment screws even touching the push tubes?

Maybe the result of a KDP or Killer case bolt (KCB)?

Ya, my thought was the KDP too. I've had 3 1st gens and never touched A KDP.If it broke the cam gear and stopped the cam the motor is pretty much junk right?

Pretty much, some parts will be good some won't.

Most of the valves and push rods are junk. Injection pump has about a 50/50 shot.

What would cause the ip to be a 50/50 shot? The sudden stop or the gears bending or breaking the shaft?

Depends on how/if the cam got broken. If the KDP broke it then chances are the IP is damaged. Really depends on how stuff broke.

Yup you can try that. Not the greatest visibility, but might give you a better idea of what's going on inside.

If there was enough force to break the cam, I can easily see the gears pushing on the IP enough to wreck it.
cheers,
Douglas
