I read that the 12v CTD should have the valves adjusted every 36k. That being the case, the original owner told me that at 201,000 miles he had never had them adjusted.

How much better will the truck run? I imagine it will get better mileage and be somewhat quieter.

Depends on how far off they are. The truck should run smoother and with less clatter. It's an easy job, just make sure you get new gaskets and recheck the lash after you set the locknuts.

 

It seems pretty darn noisy to me, Dave, like there is a lot of added clatter. Adjusting them is pretty easy? Do I need any special tools?
