Valair clutch installed
finally had time to work on my own piece this weekend. Ive had a bad vibration for a while now. Not noticeable while driving BUT with the clutch pedal out in Neutral at a stop light, i had a vibration that would shake the quarters in my ash tray. Took the slime ball getrag and 205 out to find me recently replaced clutch (Oreily's replacement) to only have 4 spots the size of my 4wd light that wasnt glazed. made me feel like i had power So i installed my Valair clutch rated at 400 horse and 800 torque thats been in my bedroom for about 4 months now. turns out the bushing in the flywheel was wore way out which caused the "bad vibe" so i took a 5/8 socket and three hits with the hammer and the old bushing was out. put a new one in, since about a year ago i put a clutch in, I just used 80 grit on a D.A. sander and touched up the flywheel. the clutch pedal feels really different than before but i can tell i have a clutch that actually works now. Im just breaking it in like the manual says. 200 city miles with lots of shifting with lower power output until broke in. so ill give an update when i get it broken in and romp on it

thats the one we got.
Dan said 450 miles because its a ceramic/ceramic.
werid your manual says 200 miles, i guess the 450 was like a combination highway/city number.

that was my main concern with the SB Con OFE i just put in. peter at SB told me around 500 miles for a break-in period. i drove to phoenix for the NHRDA event this passed weekend and thought it was broken in, but i still had a lot of chatter in 4th and 5th anywhere from 1500rpm to about 1900rpm. i just called him and made mention of my concern and he confirmed that it has to be stop and go or city miles with a lot of shifting. which makes sense cuz you're using the clutch when shifting, of course. i was in the 6th running across the highway with the clutch already engaged. not broken in like i thought lol.

lol no that wouldnt do it. the "itch" got to me to lay the hammer down last night after about 60ish or so miles on the clutch and i gained another 2 lbs of boost and she pulls harder. im still going to take it easy until the full 200 miles is done

i noticed a drop of about 3 or 4 psi with mine. can't wait until it's broken in and i can see 27-28psi again. peter says i'll notice when it's broken in cuz it'll grab good!

Nice. Well I guess that lets you know that you are moving the power down the line now!
If you don't mind me askin how much did that clutch run ya. I'm gonna be in the market for one here in the next couple of months.
