Usable power upgrades

I have a '92 w250 auto and I quite often am pulling (10-15k). What can I do to get some more power? Not crazy, but enough to make it pull a little better. Thanks.

First step (and it's a biggie) is to fill in your sig so we know what you've got and what you've done. Then the rest of us will get to work with horribly impractical advice.

1st thing is get guages aka pyro, fuel psi, boost and trans temp. Then change your exhaust housing to a smaller more practical towing housing then some mild pump tuning and a 3k gov. spring. You may also want to get a tighter torque converter.

If you're not looking to do anything crazy, replace the stock convertor. That will help alot.

i highly recommend doing a little pump tampering, hauling is the main thing i use my truck for and often pull heavy loads like you do...the power turning a few screws gave me was amazing although you definitly need a pyrometer if your going to pull with a cranked up pump.....just my 2cents

Gauges
Bosh 190 injectors
Piston Lift Pump (low psi)
4" exhaust
1/8" bump timing
Either an HX40 or HX35
Goerend converter

That list is in no particular order (gauges and converter should be first though) but it should give you pretty good ideas. For some clarification, the bosh 190's are actually smaller than your stock I/C injectors, but they atomize the fuel better, so they will make more power and give you better mileage. Also, on turbo. the HX35 would probably be enough for you, but the HX40 will flow more air. If you can spend the money, I'd go for an HX40 (you can find them used for around $500,) if not, an HX35 would be good.

It's supposed to lower egt's but thats a questionable subject. I bumped mine and really didn't see much of a change in egt's.

Start out with gauges and pump fiddling. Stock converters can handle more than you think.
