Unexpected WOT!!!!!
Unexpected WOT!!!!!
Finally have had the truck running perfect for over 2 weeks.
I was having an issue with the TPS so I downloaded the sticky and cleaned her up and again was running awesome.
Was driving back from getting the mail and just cruising along about 80kmh or so barely touching the throttle and BAM, WOT
Since our range road is all ice and snow I did some insane fishtailing and fighting to stay out of our 6-8' deep ditches I shut off the ignition and stopped in the middle of the road.
I thank the powers that be I wasn't in traffic!!!!!
I was too impressed with the tire marks to even think about the truck for about 5 min.
I started it up and WOT.
I got under the hood and everything looked good.
Started and stopped about 4 more times and the 5th time it idled fine.
Dropped it in low and drove the half mile home (didn't use the throttle)
Put it in the shop and shut her off.
Started it and WOT 3 more times.
Then no starting at all.
Tried the lift pump (brand new) and can only get one pump out of it. Try as I may I can't seem to find the lobe.
Small amount of fuel seeping under the lift pump mount.
I have fuel slowly dripping off my wiring harness. Can't see where the fuel is coming from. Feel pretty stupid saying "my wires are leaking"
I turned the engine over and am getting fuel out of the bleeder screw.
I undid the fuel line from the tank and pressurized it and good flow.
Cracked all my injectors and had 2 and 4 spurt and the rest is foamy fuel.
I can now get it to barely start with full go pedal but it BARELY runs and makes TONS of black exhaust.
Like I said in the beginning, truck has been running perfect.
Any takers??? All suggestions gladly welcome.
I'm thinking it's time for a piston lift pump.
And I'm curious to have a look at the governor spring.

I had a '92 that was recalled due to injector pump. The recall stated that due to a pin inside of the injector pump that could dislodge and cause WOT all 1992 Dodges pickups equipped with 5.9L Cummins diesels were recalled and were not to be driven until the injector pump was replaced.

If you look on the sticky "leaky fuel pin" it has an exploded diagram of parts.
What part # am I looking for on the diagram when I gut the pump tomorrow??
I checked the site and no info came up on my truck.
picture #7 I think the littlie pin on the bottom of the lever is what breaks.https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...2&postcount=19 Part #95
