Tweeked Pump

Hey fellows. I got my first taste of a real mod today. NeedMoPower went out of his way and helped a beginner out on this. He actually performed the work and was very patient in explaining what he was doing. Anyway I think the guy is great. Came out of his way to my town and worked on my pump and didnt charge a thing. Best part is that he gave me a bhaf and the Ol Smokey mount!!! He wouldnt take a dime for it. You dont run across people like that very often anymore, so if you read this, I really appreciate it Cody. I am glad that there are people like him to help like me out.Just thought I would let yall know and thanks for the good info I recieve. Mike

I can't speak for the rest but when I was 14 years young a selfless gentleman took the time to show me how to understand the internal combustion engine. I shamefully have forgotten his name but I have never forgotten what he taught me. The best way that I can repay his kindness is to pass along that which I have learned in the following 43 years of busting knuckles for fun and pay.

The guy that taught me was named Larry, a good friend of my dad`s, then there`s Sid (told me I was crazy to want to be a wrench), Craig, Salvatore , and last but certainly not least Bob. I`ll never forget what that guy Bob said to me when i was a young`un "Learn to walk before you run", funny I`ve been turning wrenches for 20 some odd years now and i STILL think of that at least once a week.

That's the beautiful thing about engines. Once you understand the fundamental principles involved, there's nothing you can't figure out. I was reading my older brother's Hot Rod magazines from the time I learned to read, that's where I learned the basics. I still remember the feeling of triumph I had at 12 years old when a 3.5 HP Briggs I frankensteined together out of 3 different engines roared to life.

Mike,
I enjoyed meeting you yesterday and that is one nice 1st gen you have. I'm sure you'll find the truck alot more fun to drive now, and if you ever get down this way I'll take you for a ride in my rig. If you ever have any questions...give me a hollar.
Cody

Thanks to all of your replys. Wannadiesel your right. The first one is free to get ya hooked and the next bump I am already looking for! I am new to the diesel world so I have to admit that I know absolutely nothing about what to do or how. Thats part of the reason that I am glad that there is a site like this and that yall are so giving with sound advice. I am sure that I will be back asking alot more questions, so go easy on an idiot like me! . Hey Cody I am going to take you up on your offer one of these days and hitch a ride in your rig! Then I can tell how much more work I need to do to mine! Thanks for everything, again. Mike
