Turbo confusion
I've read most of the turbo posts on here and have some questions to clarify what I've read. It seems the h1c is the same as the wh1c except for the wastegate, then the hx 35 is the same as the wh1c except for how it is put together, if that is true the h1c with a 12 cm wasteged hsg is the same functionally as a wh1c and a hx35. If all that is true I would gain nothing by going to a hx35 but people say it breathes better with the hx35. How can that be.
The wh1c & hx-35 both have map-width enhanced compressor housings. The h1c doesn't have the MWE slots. The MWE compressor housing is the cure for the surge that you will probably get running the h1c with smaller housings.
And the WH1c and hx35 have a larger compressor, too. That is where most of the "performance" gain comes from. MWE lets you run higher boost at lower rpms without the turbo surging. The bigger wheel increases overall pressure (really air mass . . . but in this case that means higher pressure).
