TST Dowel Pin Kit

Those of you who have purchased and installed the TST dowel pin kit - does the dowel pin tab with the pointed bent end face outward (towards the radiator), or inward towards the dowel pin? The tab I have looks like it isn't for a 1st gen? It doesn't really fit right? I ordered my kit in June, and am just getting around to killing the KDP. I told them when I ordered, my rig is a 93 first gen.
I will probably use a piece of coat hanger like BC suggested in this thread: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=121462

I used their kit too, and it seemed to be a weird fit. I snugged the bolt down and it conformed better, haven't have a problem in 3000 miles or so. I put mine in so the part sticking out to cover the dowel pin was pointed towards the front of the truck.

As long as it is infront of the pin you won't have a problem.

I hear you there. Same experience!!!! The instructions state to torque the bolt which the dowel pin tab runs through, to 18 lb ft. When I tried to torque the bolt down, I thought my torque wrench was bad (isn't the case), and the dowel pin tab seemed to crush down. Personally I don't think the TST kit is made for first gens. It will work, but is really made for 2nd gens. Unless they sold us the wrong kit, which I doubt.

if your pin can be driven deep (1/4in+) into hole. I'd simply dimple the edges of hole with a chisel. once you do that, there's no way pin is coming out.

if you purchase a new timing cover, dowel pin hole is smaller on one end to prevent pin from coming out. dimpling hole does the exact same thing.

if you use wire, tip is suppose to push against dowel pin. but it really doesn't matter so long as you put something in front of dowel pin.

cummins dealer sells a KDP special washer for $3.
be sure and use Red locktite threadlocker and torque down to 18ft lbs
