Well just tried the can of diesel direct into the IP...no change...still stumbling, and not catching to fire.

Wonder if the FSS went bad? Anyway to test to see if it's working?

Well I decided to take another route with getting fuel into the IP. I hooked up a line to the IP, then through the small clear filter, then up to a large funnel. I then filled the funnel and tried to start the motor...Nothing. I then cracked the injectors, and tried again, I was getting fuel squirting at #1 and #4, the rest didn't show much life.

So now what?

I haven't done it yet but you should be able to just take the plunger out of the FSS, then you just have to shut it down with the lever. If it were me, I'd do that to eliminate that as a possibility.

I'm out of town for work for a few days, so will try this on the weekend.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated...the whole #1 and #4 cylinders getting fuel properly, and the other not, has me wondering? I didn't take anything apart more then necessary to replace the O rings, unless something came loose and dropped out when i removed the injection head to replace that O-ring?

Alright, I pulled the plunger out of the FSS, still nothing.

I think I stopped all the air leaks, and have gotten a good "squirt" at all the cylinder while bleeding, still nothing.

When I had the top off the IP to check to see if the control collar was working properly I looked up at the small fuel pin. Where should this be sitting? It appeared to be almost all the way out, I pulled on the lever and it wouldn't move so I assumed it was seated against the big fuel pin. If it's not moving could this cause my no start problem?

OK so I was searching around Youtube for some ideas or help on my problem and I came across this little video....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYYQn...eature=related

Now it shows the lever with a small spring attached to it. When I had the top off I was missing the spring...it may have fallen into the pump during the reseal...

Guess this is bad.....

Here is a pic from 1stGen545's thread on the VE pump rebuild. You can see the pin below the top hat and spring. Now in this pic there is no spring on the pin, is this correct or not?

I need to know if I have to pull the pump and tear it down to see what damage might have occurred if the spring did drop into the body.

Try fishing with a magnet. The idle spring is not likely to have damaged anything, it's light and fragile so it would be more likely to be what broke.

So without the that light little spring she won't idle or fire?

Appreciate the answer though.

It makes the governer lever too loose, it's like clocking the throttle lever too loose. If you got it running it would surge bad at idle.
