Truck won't turn over
Truck won't turn over
Tried starting it yesterday morning after driving it the day before and it does nothing when I turn the key, not even a click. I posted a thread on the "help" forum too. The starter is good, I jumped it and it turned over normally which also means the battery is fine. A friend of mind played around a little with what we think is the neutral safety switch (at the rear driver side of the trans). He jumpered the wires there in every combo he could think of while I tried to start the truck after each one, no luck.
What I really need to know how to do is jumper the starter relay. I dont have a service manual and I'm not sure which connectors to jump.
I've tried moving the gear lever (auto) while trying to start it and that doesnt work either.
HELP!

To bypass the ignition switch, relay, and all else, there is a brown wire that should be taped to the big cable that goes to the starter.
This brown wire will be paired with a pinkish red wire, and both will go into a plug, right close to the battery.
Dis-connect that plug and jumper across the plug, on the side that goes toward the starter.
If the starter is good, and the battery hot, IT SHOULD CRANK.
If this cranks it, follow the pink and brown wires back to the relay.
You should be able to figure out how to bypass the relay, yet still have the ignition-switch connected.
I would suspect the ignition switch as most likely the problem.

which one of the 3 relays on the inner fender is the starter? Of the 3 on my truck the middle one has 5 prongs and the other 2 have 4. I would think that the middle one is the starter relay then, correct? If this is the case then I wont be able to swap them to see if its bad any other way to tell if its the problem?

I cleaned the contacts on the middle relay and it fired right up.
