truck loseing acceleration

today i was driving back from work in my 91.5 dodge 350 its the 5.9 inter-cooled. and i just lost acceleration and started to slow down.. i push the peddle to the floor and it doesnt pick up and go nor does it rev up... when i let off the peddle and get back on it.. it picks up fine.. does it at random .. i can push the clutch and the gas to the floor when it happens and it doesnt rev.. just idle.. no idea what the problem is i can drive miles steady and its fine.. then outa no where it starts to slow and i have to let the peddle come up then go back on it ..

Ideas... im kinda stuck on this one...

John gave you the best idea, don't make this complicated. Go change the filter.
