Truck shudder under acceleration

Truck shudder under acceleration
I am having a problem with my '01 HO. The only time i notice the problem is in 5th and mainly 6th gear. As i begin to get into the throttle pretty good, the truck wants to start to shudder and i can't tell if it is a fuel/engine problem or if it is in the drivetrain. If i proceed to give it throttle is gets worse...until i get frustrated and crack her all the way open and the shuddering stops completely and the truck runs normal. What confuses me is that somedays it is worse that other days, and i have noticed that it is considerably worse with my module all the way up. if it helps to know my set up, here are my slight mods:
-edge comp box, 100 horse injectors, FASS left pump, South Bend 550 horse clutch, k&N filter, and a 5" strait exhaust.
The truck has 130k miles and i run a slightly larger tire - 33"x12.50". Any help would be greatly appreciated, i just don't know where to start looking. If you need more specific info....just let me know. Thanks

Mine did the same thing for 5 winters when I ran my Edge EZ. The colder it was outside the worse it got.
For the most part, I just considered it normal. There are a few guys on here as well as a few guys I know locally here that all have the same thing happen.

My bet is the large injectors and lugging the engine....this is normal for big sticks and big tires (Mind started doing it bad between 3rd and 4th gear after my 35" tires were installed)......just dont lug it if this is what you are doing.....

I know in my case, it's the EZ itself. I've modified it so I can "turn it off" which basically means I can interrupt the datalink connection and turn the box into a boost fooler only.
When accelerating and the truck starts to shudder with the box "on", if I flip it to "off", the shudder goes away immediately and the truck runs perfectly normal.
We have done this to a couple of trucks that shudder with the EZ on and the results are the same, it goes away immediately.
In all cases above, we know it's not the clutch on any of the trucks.

Ioran03,
How many rpms are ya running when she starts to shudder - how many when she stops. If your less then 1500 your lugging it. Does the truck smoke alot when she shudders?

The truck shudders from about 1800 rpm and keeps going until i crack her all the way open. the truck is not lugging and does not smoke much at all at that rpm range. also, i hold a constant fuel pressure the whole time

Mine has started doing that pretty bad going up a hill when I get on it real good to "fly up the hill." Its not lugged at all at 70 MPH and 2000 RPM and 40psi. It still takes off, but the shutter gets worse as I go until I get real nervous and back off. Not the clutch either, its a BOMBing side effect. I've not heard too many have it with my setup, but mostly people with hot boxes like TST Comp in higher settings.

loran, I also have an 01 HO with almost the exact same setup as you. I am experiencing the same type of shudder. It seems to be worse the colder it is. This is the first winter it's happened. I am also clueless to the problem

This is an incredibly old thread but has anyone resolved this issue?
I got my hands on this 02 HO that has a replacement SO vp44 installed
and started having the cold weather timing issues after rv275s and edge ez.
It only gives me trouble below 40 degrees or so. Summertime it runs strong like bull!
2002 HO CTD,4x4,QCSB,4" DP -5"exhaust, NV-5600 6 speed,3.55 gears, Anti-Spin Rear Diff, Fass DDRP 02,VP44 (SO), isspro EV2 gauges, Edge EZ, RV275's, Crank Case Vent Mod, tire size: 265 Michelin MS/2's,16100 lbs gross-28ft 5th wheel
