truck on e-bay

a bit pricy, but if you're in the market for a real clean 2wd, this one seems sweet! just thought I'd pass the link along.

Nice truck - if it's as good as it sounds it would bring a nice price around here. I was looking at total junk for around $9k when I bought my truck. I ended up paying $10k for mine, but it had 47k original miles, from the original owner, who bought it in Arizona (no rust). I learned that "book value" don't mean squat when you're talking about a CTD.

Good looking truck. Will be interesting to see what the final bid is.

Around here most 1st gen CTD's are 2 to 5K over book. I had to work on the dealer for almost two weeks to get mine for $5,000.00

Wow! I just closed the deal on that truck last night. Found the forums today as I've been reading everything I could get my hands on about the CTD.

Then I see the truck I just bought. Too funny.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for it? Nice looking truck! Congrats!

The seller closed a deal with me for $7500 off of e-bay. Seller seems to be a great guy with plenty of good feed-back.

Now I'm just planning the trip to pick it up and doing more diesel research.

I've got a pretty good background in 4cyl gas motors and turbos but the whole diesel thing is pretty new to me. We picked up the truck primarily as a shop truck/ tow vehicle.

It'd be nice if there was a more standardized upgrade path to take a look at for us new guys. (I'm used to the staged upgrades for DSMs).

Seller is also offering me a Dana70 posi center section for $400. Anyone have an opinion if this is a good price to jump on?

thanks!

I think you got a good deal on that truck. Looks to be in GREAT shape with VERY low miles for the year of truck.

I paid $5,000.00 for a 92 3/4ton 2WD reg cab with 114,000 miles on the clock. I don't think I got hurt a bit on my deal!

Looks like he is or was a TDR member by the grill badge.

As for the D70 carrier, I can't advise. I would check with Randy's Ring & Pinion, and or Six States Distributors as to what a new one would cost. Then go from there.

As for the mods, start off slow. Get used to the rig first. Get a feel for how it runs and where the EGT's are. Nice thing is you won't have to add the guages as he did that for you. If your plan is towing/shop truck. I would suggest not going to overboard with mods. Maybe some 190hp injectors & a Turbo housing from PDR. Tweek the pump a bit and let er pull!

When you get it home, let us know how you liked driving her home.

I just got back last night. Took the train in and then drove her back. 500+ miles and not a blip on the radar. Smooth sailing the whole way (knock on wood that things keep on like that).

I have to say, the more I drove the rig, the more I like it for road trips, etc. The drive home was as painless a roadtrip as I've ever had (PA to Illinois).

Somehow I was unable to find the fuel separator to drain off the water when I filled up though (water warning light not lit but I'd read it should be drained at every fill up.) I'm still a NooB when it comes to the Cummins engine bay.

Oh, and good catch on the TDR badges. Seller was a TDR member. Nice guy too! He met me at the train station, gave me a map to help get home (I'd remembered to bring tools but forgot the map lol). Left me a gallon of 'just in case' diesel, some oil filters, belts, and the Chilton's manual.
