trade my 97 for a 93? Long post

First off this is a sloppyy post But I need help on deciding on a trade.so I have a 97 club cab with a built tran's 5" exhaust kdp fix nothing too fancy I also have a 99 quadcab both truck are 4x4 the 99 has a positive lok new of all new suspension dad's fuel system 5" mbrp exhaust, banks egt&boost gauge all leather &dash is nice. But needs bed pulled &another 1 I have put on & needs a trana cooker & lined hooked up front bumper windshield has a cracked needs front doors & 1 rocker.Built auto. Was in a wreck had to have rear axle set back on blocks the u bolt broke, got all new undercarriage etc.A week&I could have it done &ready for paint.
I do bodywork & I'm just slammed with other people's stuff. My 97 has the death wobble @ the moment & needs cab corners & rockers but I love that truck&I can do the bodywork & suspension in a few days.It will smoke my 24 valve but tue 24 has no tuner.
Now this fella wanted the 24 valve but now wants then 12.Reason being his is a single cab & he has a kid.I've got kids to bit this will give me motivation to get my pro street g-body back on the Rd with the back seat & buy a charger over the winter or some kinda car.His truck is nice 5 speed lifted on 35s no gauges but pretty clean.Should I trade him my 97?I love the 1st Gen body stylr but since I got my 97 I know why so many people prefer the p pumps. It don't look great but again I can fix that, but if I get the 1st Gen I don't have to lift 1 of my trucks as I was planning just not a 12 valove p pump truck which I think is awesome with 326xxx it had zero blow by & can fly & pull down a house has never left me stuck...24 has never left me stuck either though &love the extra door's.So what would you do?Do you think I would regret it?His truck is bueatiful & has the manual trans. So trade or no?And if you read all this mess I'm sure my grammar & punctuation had made you want to hunt me down with a shotgun.Sorry I have some health issues & pain meds make me rant.Ha!

So the 1st Gen is a regular cab, not a club cab? If I was in your shoes I would keep the P-Pump 12V and ditch the 24V....I think?

Could you post pics of the truck in question?

pic's Don't really matter in my case as I'm a bodyman by trade.I mostly do custom metal work doing 3 chop tops now & a lowrider & a couple bikes. But I've done tons of these 2nd gens.I bought mine with rusted out cab cornere's & 1 bad rocker for a couple grand more then I could have gotten 1 with not a scratch& a perfect interior including dash but I know the owner of my 12 valve & the history on it since they day he bought it.His truck is actually what made me ditch the gas burner & get my first diesel a few diesels back & never going back to a gas truck.Unless it's a old high boy or 68-72 Chevy & that will just be a toy.
Anyways his truck looks awesome compared to mine. He's got a thumbs up type of truck when someone see'd it but mine runs like a top. When I was a kid & saw something I thought looked nice he would say it don't matter how nice it looks of it don't run better.1 thing that scares me is he don't know if his has had the kdp fixed.

I understand what you are saying...but when you ask others for their help, we need all the info we can get to help you. my Uncle was like that, anything mechanical didn't bother him, that guy could repair anything.

his is a registered cab 4x4 5spd nice, clean says p.o. was a diesel mech.My neighbor owns 4 93s won't look @ a 2nd gen.If I trade I still have my 99 24valve it needs a weeks worth of work to get back on the rd.But it has all the bells&whistles. My 97 looks like cap but over the winter I was gonna fix that...I just love the power the 97 puts out.Pumps never been messed with&still cruises & once a hit od I can roll on past a lot of trucks.I have a drag car & other toys but the 97 even though it looks like cap when I get in it I still feel like I'm riding a beast...
reminds me of a joke I heard 20 some years ago a guy rides a bear into a logging camp firing a 6 shooter swinging a rattle snake throws it on the ground says stay & picks up a boiling pot of coffee off the campfire chugs it down & says sotry boys gotta run there's a bad mfer after me...I feel like I'm coming after him....man that was long & I probablly sound like an idiot.I guess what I'm getting @ is yes his his clean,1st Gen are my favorite body style but am I gonna regret trading?Am I gonna feel like I could eat the cars on the rd?I can make mine look good, but 1st gen's out here rarely show up maybe see a few a year but see tons of 2nd Gen a day out here.&the 1st Gen sell high dollAR out here.

1st gens are getting harder and harder to find, in decent shape. One thing to consider is that parts are getting harder and harder to find, too. But if you already have a 2nd gen, in a few years you may look back and say, "Man, I wished I had picked up that 1st gen when I had the chance". Especially if you know the history on it.

IF you aren't looking for more than maybe 400hp out of it, then it may be a reasonable trade. It's really hard to tell without knowing more but based on what you gave, it seems like it could be within reasonable

I've tried and tried to read this but it just hurts my head.

I would trade any make and model of pickup for a 1st Gen Cummins.

Nuff said.

might not trade,I was talking to my neighbor he owns a ton of 1st Gen & he told me it was his old truck & that he wouldn't trade that the odo is stuck on 122k but has over 1 million miles on it&it always had front end problems & the account don't work. The other guy told me the odo stopd @ 122 100k miles ago&that the account just needed charged & he bought it from a diesel mechanic.
My neighbor is a carpenter anyways I paid 7500 for my 12 valve from a guy I know who is the original owner. So even though it has rust on it I know the history at least on mine is correct.Plus I was digging around in my shop&turns out I have the body panels I need leftover from some Cummins I did a few years ago...anyways rantings again.I offered the 24 it's up to him but not sure on that,it has a new od 4:10 gears new posi-lol all the suspension is new.Needs some cosmetics bit aye I ain't touched it in a year.
