to trade or not to trade?!?!?!

Just found this site and it looks pretty good so far so here's my story!!!!

I currently own a 6 leaker and so far this year it's been in the shop every month since january so 5 for 5 now!!! I'm just getting tired of having to do my regular truck payment PLUS the extra that it might cost me at the dealer.

So now i think it's time to shop. I am not particular to any brand name as long as the price is right and it's not going to be in the shop every month. My local Dodge dealer has an 08 SLT 2500 diesel with just about everything in there stickered at 57000(C) selling for 41500(C) and it's got me really interested!!!

My question(s) is....how reliable are these new engines compared to the 6 leaker??? What has been going wrong or not with it??? How's fuel mileage compare??? Are they just as unreliable as the 6 leaker??? How often should I expect to be in the shop with this thing??? Is an oil change just as expensive also???

I'm gonna keep reading through here but some good feed back would be greatly appreciated!!!

Rock

I would definately trade, and for a dodge specifically. The new motor is a good motor, just bypass the emissions crap and your mileage and performance go way up. With the reputation the 6 liters have, nobody is going to give you anything for your trade. So, with Crystler just filing bankruptcy the Dodge is probably the cheapest out there rightnow and will help you with your low trade value.

well i went in this afternoon to see this truck (last one left at that price) and here's what they said. Now keep in mind that these are canadian numbers!!! They want to give me 16000 for my truck and the 08 they have down to 41500. I actually thought 16000 for my truck is a good price but the only thing stopping me right now is that it has to be through a bank finance not dealer and the interest rate is going to be 8.1%. I think that is just ridiculous so i'll be talking to my bank tomorrow (i hope) and see what they have to offer!!! This is something i've never done before but can you actually deal the interest rate like you would the truck down from sticker???? If they really want to get ride of it maybe that's what i'll tell them next time i talk to them!!!

I test drove the truck and actually really like the ride. I'd hate to have to go back to a gasser just because the price is right!!!
