I would have a hard time selling the trip to Kentucky My significant other just wouldn,t understand. The merchants here are charging more for the same tire, but not enough to break even on the trip.

 

well the thing is, is im just 16 and a $320 payout was bad enough, is there anything i can do to make it work, like maybe swaybars, rear firestone airbags, or maybe just inflate the fronts more.i just need something to last long enough for me to get some extra funds to pay for some extra tires.

So did you check your tires to see if, in fact, they are P-rated 255-70-16??


What is happening is the P-rated tires are really flexible and are swaying; whereas, the LT-rated rear tires are stiff and not swaying.

Drive like you have some sense and you can live with it; but, drive like most and you better make arrangements at the place of final rest.

 

yeah the 255's are p rated there just a SUV tire the previus owner had on it. but them why does it feel like the LT tires are the ones swaying. and why didnt it do it before when i had all four as P tires?

I feel yor pain. I'm 58 and still have a time making ends meet sometimes. I too, thought that maybe swapping the front to the back might help the handling until you can get two more, even though it may look a little weird.

 

The best I can explain it is kinda like you are in the woods and hear only one shot, you swear it came from behind you, when actually it was in front.

Your truck looks to be about the same set-up as the wife's truck.

She has LR-E 235-85-16 all four wheels at 80PSI and it drives as good as anything I ever drove.

 

well the thing is the reason i got the 235/85/16 was the fact they are taller and AT's, and i did that to get back my normal Speedo #s. and for MPG, my last tank with the the 255's was 16.8 and thats with running double dose of Power service. and it has to be worse than that because it was a smaller tire so less miles were traveled than what it said, would it work if i pumped up the PSI in the front on the 255's to about 50-80ish and stayed with about 40 in the 235's?

 

I would try airing the fronts up to the maximum; but, I wouldn't run much less than sixty in the LR-E rears.

Those tires are designed for 80PSI and I don't think it is best to stray too far from that.

 

A few years ago on a diffrent truck ('93 CTD) when I put on new tires (4), it fewlt all squirrly and as if I was driving on marbles. I played with the pressures for a while but in the end what fixed it was a Borgeson shaft. I guess that I was used to the old sloppy shaft and tires but when I change one the other didn't like it and gave up the ghost. A new shaft fixed me right up.

 

well i checked my shaft and it doesnt have any play in it, i just have a lot of play in the pump i believe, so does anyone know how to adjust this
