CrashnZuk the member on Pirate 4x4 has a tiny tach and loves it. He runs it on his 1991.5 rig.

I've always wondered if the 1/2 a second update rate is quick enough.

I have had an analog tach in the past and presently have a Tiny tach, which I have had for 3 years now.
The digital Tiny tach is much more precise as to the RPM at any give point than an analog. they also have incorporated an hour recorder and service interval point recorder, as well as some other features.
Look up their web site for the real info.

I really like mine and have had zero problems.

Yes the first gen fuel lines are 1/4".

I've run a few of them...do I like a needle better, yes...is an analog tach as quick, easy, and RELIABLE as these, nope!

For the price, and the ease of use, I love them!

I read the installation instuctions, and I noticed the very last sentence states the the non replaceable battery(that keeps the hour meter memory)only has a life span of 5 years.so one downside to this tach is after 5 years your hour meter will not work.

The web site says that the Diesel version works off truck power and has flash memory. I'll have to look again.

Thanks to all for the replies, 1/4" it is.

This is the last paragraph of the instuctions.Did I misunderstand or is the battery that last 5 years for the pourpose of keeping the hour meter memory should you disconnect your battery ? Quote (The microprocessor and display are powered by an internal lithium battery totally independent of the external amplifier power source, so run time hours will not be lost if the external source is disconnected. This battery is not replaceable but should last five years.)

This is what I got today under the diesel version installation instructions:
I'll ask when and if I call.they claim flash memory replaces Batt .

" •External Power: External power is required to operate the unit. Vehicle power is most convenient, but any DC 12 VOLTS source may be used. From the black two wire power cable, connect the RED wire to the POSITIVE of the source and the BLACK wire to the NEGATIVE terminal of the source."

Also: Diesel Tiny-Tach™
Lighted Display.
Engine RPM to 19,990.
Flash memory replaces internal battery.
Correct reading regardless of the number of cylinders.
Displays RPM when engine is running.
Automatically displays run-time hours when engine is shut off (and power is still on).
A low cost method of keeping track of engine performance.
Standard wire length is 8 feet.
Accurate means of setting exact engine RPM for proper operation of diesel engines.
Requires vehicle power.
Has job timer and 2 service timers.
One year warranty. Click here for warranty information.

It seems that the gas engine version still requires a Battery.
