Question tiny tach

Has anyone here tried,a tiny tach? It'a a small digital tach, that gets it's reading off of a injector line. It also tells you the hours of operation. I'm thinking about trying one. If you want to check it out go to tinytach.com.

I have heard that they work just fine, But they do not illuminate.
Went with a VDO tach with the sensor on the outside of the alternater instead.

Thats seems like a good price. I want to hear a couple of opinions from those running them as well and which one to order.

Question

I read on a diesel tractor forum that some Cummins and Detroit diesels will not work with the tinytach, so I guess we need to hear from anyone who is using one on the 5.9 before I will pony up the dough to get one. Anyone have any personal experience they can share?

They will work on any fuel inj engine diesel or gas, they read the pulses thru the inj lines. They arent ver responsive if the lines are covered in paint so clean lines well. The inducers are in mm not sae sizes, call them and they know which size you need.

Pred was right they are not iluminated but that was easy to solve with a small green diod. The battery life is around 5 to 6 years and its not replacible, so when it dies you have get a new head but its cheaper than whole setup. I dont mind 45 bucks every 5 years to have a tach thats 100% acurate. Also an easy set up and install, iv been well pleased, P.S. mines on year 7 and still working.

I was doing the math to be sure I could outlive that 5year battery life on the Tiny Tach. Seems like a major flaw.

The one now plugs into 12vdc. So no worries about batteries
