Did I read this last paragraph wrong?

"Diesel Tiny-Tach™ — Operating Instructions
When engine is started, the unit will automatically switch to the Tach Mode. When the engine is shut off and no transducer signal is present, the unity will switch to indicate Total Run Time (TOT), beginning in minutes and switching to hours after 60 minutes is reached.

The microprocessor and display are powered by an internal lithium battery totally independent of the external amplifier power source, so run time hours will not be lost if the external source is disconnected. This battery is not replaceable but should last five years."

When this internal battery dies, does the tach still work, but not store data for hourmeter? I don't care much if the hourmeter dies, but I don't want to buy a tach every 5 yrs.

I've had one for over 5 years and it is still working. Had it before
I found one of the OEM tach's. I left the Tiny Tach in after the big one was installed cause it makes things a lot easier when adjusting Idle, etc. When it dies, I'll get another one. Will probably look at replacing the battery in it before ordering another one though.
