timing bump question

my timing is bumped 1/8th but i saw some one say they have there pump 1/8the from the head, is that how you go about adjusting them or is it from the little tick on the gear case that i can measure the 1/8th by? 1/8 from the head seams like alot of timing advance

Some go all the way to the head. Most are refering to the factory mark on the case. A majority of the fellas I hang with push it all the way to the head. Try it and if it starts to sound like a powerstroke back off a bit.

You don't need to do more than the 1/8" bump with the fuel you have. Only trucks with a lot of fuel will benefit from a lot of timing.
