Time for a bit of pump work and more power.

My little 92 D250 has been slowly losing power over the years and the VE is drooling from a couple places. After 23 years of ownership and 310,000 miles it's time for a little attention.

I've been considering dropping the coin for a rebuilt pump. I'd like to add a bit of power to the mix while I'm at it. The truck is all stock except for little pump adjustments. I rarely drive the truck these days but when I do it's usually because there's work to be done that my friend's smaller truck can't handle.

I'd like to get somewhere around 300-350 hp out of it without smoking out the city and setting off car alarms as I drive by. Surely that can all be done without having to spin past 3200 rpm.

What would you folks recommend and which shop should I consider for the pump?

Thanks bunches!

If you decide to go with a rebuilt pump, get it setup to stock and set to TDC. Then you can install it with the proper timing. You might want to check into some rebuilt injectors while you're at it.

Then you can follow the stickies and start twisting screws for more fuel/power. Invest in a barring tool to assist getting the timing set correctly. There is a video floating around on YouTube showing how to install the pump correctly.

Turbo upgrade, 5X.012 or 6X.011 injectors, bigger/better intercooler, cooler tubes, and a performance IP.
