Throttle Cable ??

Throttle Cable ??
Has anyone installed a throttle-cable AT the injection-pump ??
(The son's truck has the short one that works a cam on the accelerator-pedal.)
For a cable to work properly, it has to be connected to the throttle-lever via a ball-chain, or the like, such that normal operation of the pedal will not affect the cable.
If the cable is connected directly/rigid to the lever, then any pedal movement must also move the cable in and out.
How does one go about connecting the ball-chain to the cable ??
What does the chain to cable clip/connector look like ??
I can buy a "KIT" that has all of this stuff, for about sixty-bucks, but I would rather not pay so much for a fifty-cent item.
How have others addressed this situation ??
Any pictures ??
Thanks.

The factory did it down at the accelerator pedal on the early non-intercooled trucks. How about drilling a hole in the pedal arm just below the factory cable slot big enough for the chain *****, but not big enough for whatever kind of dingleberry you want to add to the end?
