Things are looking up
After a lot of colorful language and busted knuckles, the High Tech Turbo HTB2 is on and functioning. My mechanic friend hates me even more.
It seems to have cleared the air (literally) on my remaining annoyances. A little more tuning and I think I've got it. If you recall, after the 4" exhaust install I acquired a big lag and a lot of smoke. Tuning, timing and AFC spacers, even resetting the IP timing to stock didn't help much. I had this heavy haze at idle and a blow (not a puff) of black smoke on any acceleration. The haze is gone completely and only a puff at each gear taking off from a stop.
The HTT turbo sits further back by about 2 1/2" than the H1C, so you can imagine the fun. The down pipe took a major alteration but turned out for the better giving me more room next to the drive shaft. The oil drain tube is now an oil drain hose. And I will probably have to lengthen the tube to the intercooler.

The unmodified DP drive shaft clearance

And the modified DP clearance

Hard to tell from the pictures, but it moved the pipe up and back. I also lost some room by the heater but should still have enough. If not I'll add a heat shield.
By the way, that is snow under the truck.
