The reason most cruise control units say "not for diesels" is because diesels dont create vacuum to run the cruise servo.. HOwever, our trucks have a vacuum pump that you would just have to ''T'' into to get some vacuum for the aftermarket cruise. Almost any aftermarket cruise setup will work.

Cruise

I HAVE aftermarket cruise on my 1st gen. I'm not sure what brand it is, but it worked well for years, until the other day, haven't diagnosed the problem yet.... If you can find factory cruise from another truck it might be a better deal. It could just be our trucks, but (five speed) I have to rev the engine slightly before touching the brakes to turn the cruise off, and it is (adjustable) either not responsive enough, or too responsive, where you feel all the slack in the drivetrain slapping back and forth.

Just my two cents worth.

Why not hit the pick-n-pull & just bolt a stock system on??
should bolt right on & plug right in.
More than likely, gasser servo & switches will work.
