Stupid question but where is the jack?

I see I have a tire iron and jack crank underneath the hood of the left side (turbo side) but I don't have a jack. I'm guessing its supposed to be under there with the rest of the stuff?

Im pretty sure I don't have a tire jack, so I'm going to need one. What specs or ratings does this tire jack need to be?

Thanks,
NoSparkplugs

I just keep about a 6ton hydraulic bottle jack in my toolbox, thats really plenty big enough.

I believe if you look down a little further underneath the headlight you might see the jack. I would just throw that thing away and get a hydraulic jack anyhow.

Yep, it ought to be hiding down under the air filter. 1 ton trucks didn't get jacks because Dodge didn't want to pay for a good enough jack to pick up a rear wheel at full GVW.

There should be a wing nut and a swingaway bracket mounted to the radiator support under the overflow bottle. This is for the factory jack.

I cary one of those $30 rolling floor jacks from wally world right now. To me it didn't look like the factory jack was even tall enough to lift the tire off the ground on a 4x4 without a block under it.

Very interesting. If the jack was supposed to be under the air filter, what is supposed to bolt down on the ledge behind the passenger seat? I have two short studs sticking up there. As usual this is a previously owned truck and no one knows where the owner's manual went.

When i bought my Dodge new i asked "where's the jack"??? Dealer told me the stock jack wasn't strong enough for the job, so i'd have to buy my own jack!

The wrench on my one ton is behind the passenger seat bolted down, not under the hood... Like others, i carry a bottle jack with me to do the job.

BTW, i don't think i'd trust one of those cheapo floor jacks, as i've seen several of them fail and i wouldn't want to be along the road when that happens!!

The factory-provided jack looks just like the double-piston 8-ton bottle jack I bought when I couldn't find mine. Then I found mine right where it's shown in the service manual, under the overflow bottle (somewhat hard to see down there). Since I'd been silly enough to buy another one, that one is still there.
