Stuck in the sand

Just to climb up onto leveling blocks piled fairly high I had to put my 24v auto into 4 LO. Couldn't get the rpms up enough to get some movement.
My manual does it with ease.

I call those an A-518. I have also heard people call them a 46RH.

Well if it isn't the trans, and it lacks in power can I get that and not lose an more MPG ? I lost 4 mpg after my injector pump was rebuilt. Omega in El Cajon did the rebuild and wouldn't talk to me about. They said talk to the mechanic that installed it. They tried but it was never fixed, and was told don't come back. Some much for taking pride in workmanship.
Thanks for the help

If the pump was installed with less timing then before it would be down on power.

The pump has been advanced a little but there was no change in MPGs. All the shops say its running great, so what happen?

Not sure cuz I'm no transmission guru but it sounds to me like the clutches or the torque converter slipping, these automatics in the stock configuration with the stock converter suck.
Does it seem to run alot better since they rebuilt the pump? if so you might be putting alot more torque and power to the trans and causing it to slip more and that would definitely affect your mileage, ok so you transmission gurus chime in and flame me for being a dumb a**

Nope the truck runs about the same but with less power & less MPG's.
Are there any power up grades that won't hurt the MPG's?

I have tuned up several VE pumps and gotten better mileage from them.
It all depends on how you use the new power.
Burn outs at every stop sign...less MPG for sure.
Using the new power to get up to speed or maintain speed with less throttle pedal being used, might easily give you more MPG.
I don't think you are having a power problem though.
Your description of not being able to move tires at all in sand, or drive over 2X's in the driveway sounds like transmission issues, which tuning for more power will not help.
You would have to own a really weak sauce 12V motor to not have the power to drive over some 2X's.
You could certainly turn up the fuel screw ONE turn, OR rotate the fuel pin 180* and see if it suddenly spins tires in the sand as a test though.
Check the sticky if you need info. on how to do these modifications.

If the trans clutches were slipping the RPM would rev up. If it doesn't rev it's not slipping. Either the engine isn't making power or the torque converter isn't working.
Now since this all started after the pump rebuild, and if it was ok before, you should seriously stop looking for other causes and take the truck or the pump to another shop. It's either in the pump or the installation.
