Angry Still Steering

On my 93 350 4wd Where can I get an upgraded steering shaft and/or steering box. I keep breaking the mount bracket. Putting 3rd one on today. Will anything fix this problem or not? Thanx

So the Borgenson shaft is the shaft of choice? Can I put it on myself or is really difficult?

Is the name of the shaft Borgenson or Borgeson. Is there a shock absorber in part of it or not for my 93? I'm more confused now than before I called a couple stores. Maybe one of you guys know where to get one without callinf all over. Thanx

Borgeson seems like summit has about the best price. And do get a new rag joint while you are at it.
My truck had a broken mount when I bought it and the PO used to run it with 35's I suspect that is what cracked the mount but that is only a theory.
Do you do any mudding or run big tires by chance ?

Check your frame carefully. Also check the rivets on the frame. I had to weld up the frame and I made a gusset out of 3/8" steel going from the top of the frame down to the cross member. I don't think I will be breaking any more brackets.

The rag joint is the rubber doughnut on the steering shaft that looks like sombody cut it out of an old tire. It is there to isolate road and engine vibrations from the steering wheel.

Getrag is the brand of the 1st gen 5-speeds. In '94 it was replaced with the NV4500.

Don't be hard on yourself. Every new venture has its unique vocabulary. A few months from now, you will be answering these questions.

Ok one more question. Borgeson shows a sterring shaft with U-joints at both ends. They call it an extreme steering shaft. Is that the one I need. It's about $245. Just don't want to get the wrong one. You guys seem to know about these shafts. Thanx

Check the end of your steering column some have the end piece pressed on and held with a pin (easy to remove) and with that style you could run the shaft with joints top and bottom (or flaming river for that matter they have a double d shaft and joints for our applications) if the fitting/flange whatever you want to call it thingy at the bottom of the column (presently bolted to your rag joint) is welded on like some can be i'll be a lot more work.

As to why one or the other ... maybe someone with that style will chime in me I did the one like in the link from my first reply and on my truck it is fine... maybe with a body lift the joint on top would help avoid binding ??

With 2 joints on the shaft do you need a support bearing for the shaft ?
