Still playing with pump adjustments
Still playing with pump adjustments
I've finally got my pump adjusted pretty good, I have power from the get go but I still get a lot of smoke in third gear on a heavy pull foot to the floor from about 2000rpm 18psi up to governed speed. Even at 26psi just before it defuels it smokes a lot. I don't want to lose anything on the low end so what do I adjust next. I've got the afc on max, the star wheel out 6 turns and I've backed the full fuel screw out 5/8 ths of a turn so far. I'm thinking if I back the full fuel screw out a little more it should do it. If I back off on the afc it will affect low and midrange. I've still got the stock exhaust and intake system and I suppose spending $500 to upgrade would get rid of the smoke but I want to spend my money on a repaint. Think putting the 16 housing back on would make a difference?
im new to these but mine doesnt smoke at all hardly(havent loaded the trailer yet). but i would think the 12 is choking on the top end and a 16 and some big exhaust and and air in would be ideal!

You don't need less fuel, you need more air! You're only making 26 psi with a 12 cm housing? You must be running the stock wastegate actuator then? Either get/make a boost elbow (a calibrated leak in the boost line to the actuator) or a TurboMaster to crank the boost up to 35 psi or so, that should clean things up nicely. I've got my TurboMaster set to open at 30 psi.
