steering gear box question?

If I were to do it again I would invest in the proper tool to pull the pitman arm. Sometimes they can be a real bother to get off. I wound up with a smashed thumb using a regular gear puller with an impact gun. When the puller slipped off the pitman arm it came around and found the thumb that was wrapped around the impact gun handle..............ouch! The nut that holds the two puller legs in place stripped and it happened so fast I never saw it coming. I would hate to think what it would have looked like if I wasn't wearing leather gloves.

Another option is PSC- they are more geared to the off-road crowd, but build good boxes for Dodge diesels. Had one in my 91, and it cost just a hair more than the junk the parts stores sell.

well the steering gearbox is sloppy but i think the main problem is the bracket that bolts to the frame that holds the gearbox on is cracked and bent and is only attached at the very end so the entire gearbox is moving side to side about 2.5" when i turn the wheel i just really noticed this today...dont think they sell those brackets at the local parts store.
