Star Wheel brake adjustment

Working on Right Rear axle took brakes off .Started putting things back together and the Star wheel doesn’t have the X grove in the left side for the brake shoe.I’ve looked everywhere thought it dropped out but just wondering if maybe it doesn’t have the slot in it.Anybody know off hand.

It's OK. The one end just spins on the shoe while the other has to not spin to operate the screw.

I know it just spins Edwin but I’ve put brakes on other vehicles and the end that just spins had a insert that you put never siege and rotated inside itself I thought it fell out.I guess this just goes on shoe but there’s a little play that’s why I asked .Sad part is I just put everything on this axle last year now I forgot. Thanks

Whenever I do them nowadays I buy a kit for a few bucks which has all the parts including the star adjuster. I get a spring kit also and new wheel cylinders. But if yours aren't that old it's OK to reuse them.

I do believe there is a piece that goes there. Just a roughly U shaped think with a stud that sticks into the start wheel cavity. Though it has been a few years since I was into my rear brakes.

Pretty sure that is how the adjuster is supposed to look, I'd install it and it spin the star wheel and see if it adjust properly, I think it will.

After doing the right side started on the left side and the Star adjustment only has the slots on one side so I didn’t lose any parts on the right side.
