Stacks and rain

When I get my turbo on I want to run a single 5" stack. Any trick to keep the rain out? I would like to run one like wanna has. Wife says leave it under the truck and let it come out in frount of rear tires. She thinks that our 5th wheel will smell like diesel and have a shade of gray to it.

dril a hole in your pipe just before it turns up for the water to drain. if you dump it in front of your tire, you'll have a black wheel

Well it can be a pain, while the truck is running it isn't a problem because it is hot enough it just dry's up. If they do get moisture in them then it will break loose flakes of exshaust residue and when you start up and that stuff will float all over get in your truck all over the garage flow and so on. You really can't keep anything in the bed either unless you want it powdercoated. But I love them and will have them on all my trucks.

I got the idea for my setup here on DTR, I can't remember who posted it. The 4" pipe runs almost all the way up inside the 5" stack, it stops about 6" from the top. The adapter has drain holes drilled in it. When it rains, water that lands in the stack runs down the inside walls of the 5" and out the adapter instead of making a sooty puddle in the pipe. I haven't had any trouble with splatter or soot flakes.

Your wife is right. The fiver will get sooty from stacks (won't smell, though). If you want a clean camper your best bet is a turndown tip and a full length exhaust.

Speed shops sell products to clean tire rubber off of quarter panels of cars from doing burnouts, i'm sure it would work great for this. They also have some stuff that you put on before it gets dirty (when its clean), and will allow everything to be hosed right off.

Oh yeah, back to the rain, a friend of mine has a coffey can attached to an old yard stick that he puts over his stacks a night if its gonna rain.
