I like the look, but am weighing the lost bed space, clearance issues, and noise! I live in a funny neighborhood. My truck is essentially stock and will be for a while longer, so smoking isn't a concern. What do you all like better: Mitre'd, Turn out's, or square tops? I like both the square tube cross pipes and the round tubes, but price will probably help determine which I use.

Just a thought: If you ran an auxillary fuel tank in the bed, notched around the exhaust piping (with proper clearances, of course) you would have a very nicely heated winter tank!

I love the way stacks look. I think turnouts look best on a 1st gen, and I like mitres on the newer trucks. Here's why I don't have stacks: On extended cab 1st gens there's a crossmember right where you would want to come up into the bed with the exhaust. This means you have to go further back, so instead of losing 6-8" of bed space you lose like a foot and a half. You can go under the frame and come up out by the side of the bed, but my truck is a 2wd so ground clearance is an issue. So I went with 4" exhaust instead.

Im thinking of running 4 inch to a y the splitting to 3 inch stacks,,first because take up less room,,should be no restriction as 2 -3 inch pipes are bigger than a 4 inch and last, the 4 inch almost seems to big,,,and i like the turn outs better as well

I think stacks only look good on duallies. But there's a few SRW trucks out there with the right hardware (bumpers, grille guards headache racks) that look good with stacks.

Here's my friend Kevan's CC 4x4 12v Dually with a 5" single stack. The duals looked a bit too much, so he went with the single outlet. I think it looks PERFECT on his truck.

It's also 5" from the turbo (HX40) back, so it sounds insane.

Are you talking about a frame cross member or the cross member that is sheet metal as part of the bed?
I cut right through the bed cross member on my 99 and my sons 94.

I don't worry about bed space since I rarely haul anything in the bed anyway.

On a 1st gen it's a frame crossmember. If it was the bed I'd hack right through it. I don't know if standard cabs have the same issue. If you look at Monty's pics you can see how far back he had to go to get the exhaust up into the bed.
