sometimes I really hate living in Michigan

I'm pretty sure people in a lot of other areas wouldn't think this in pretty good condition for it's age.

lookes alright here other than I had already pulled the sill plate but the carpet was starting to sink out near the door

then I pulled up the carpet and
this is before I started even poking at it so a lot the the stuff there was pure rust

after I started cutting(still not really done cutting yet) and got back to "steel" that I can somewhat weld to

and the only part I started welding back in

and the not nearly as bad but still rough passenger side, I haven't messed with it yet.

I don't currently have enough sheet metal to put it back together so it's sitting and looking sexy out by the shop

Oh Yeah! Gotta Love the Rust Belt. Do you have vehicle inspections in Michigan?

Nice color combo! I have to pull upmy carpet and see whats there. I have the rockers waiting. Hopefully I can take care of some of that before winter.

I thought we salted the roads a lot here in Minnesota, until I drove through Michigan in the winter. What I thought were snow dunes along curbs in 40 degree weather turned out to be pure salt.

Mine is doing the same thing right now, but I also work in the publics works area and have to drive through the same path as the salt trucks, but I'ld be more inclined to look at the cowl for cracks and make sure no water is running in to sit on the floor. I washed the truck the otherday and found the carpeting wet in that same area. When I run the water hose down the windshield, I found the water running in the truck along the left side kick panel.

That ain't salt, that's a leaking cowl. They'll do that in Florida too.

At least you have a cab mount left. Mine collapsed and when I removed the cab the mount stayed with the frame.

Even in NC mine started rusting. Pulled the carpet out, sanded and cleaned and rhino lined it. I have picts in the gallery.

it is leaking water in the kick pannel vent I found that out today when I jumped in to measure for my new steel in the rain. Is this from a cracked cowl? I originally thought this truck spent winters in the south(it's way to solid for the age and mileage around hear) and now I found out it's leaking so it probably did. it's got an 80 gal aux tank and rails for a fifth wheel so I figure an old guy bought it to haul his camper to florida for the winter or something. on the salt thing they started using some cloride instead of just salt a couple years ago it's really nasty stuff, crusts to the vehicle and eats it away. it's rusting through the rear frames on the the short trip semis.
and heres a pic of possibly the worst floored truck I've owned

I had already put on the new rocker and made my cab support but hadn't cut on any floor yet. I used to drive with one foot on the frame and the other right next to the clutch.
