Slave Cylinder removal?

I'll swallow some pride here and ask first. Whats the deal with the whole slave cylinder R&R? I've read all the horror stories about leaks, not sealing, don't do this, do that, etc. I'm installing a clutch in my truck. I have the getrag and t-case pulled. Next is the bellhousing and old clutch hardware. What is the proper way to remove the slave cylinder? Any tips, or something I should do and or not do? Thanks.

well I just put mine in the truck the whole unit, slave and master with reservoir is one unit with the pressure line swedged on both sides, I don't know what's good or bad, just know that the slave is almost "spring loaded" and once removed from the clutch fork will extend to the full out" position. so I'd say when it does this, make sure the res is upriight not to suck any air? the master is a 1/4 llocking turn ccw to get out, along with the connection to the clutch pedal... spring washer, washer and c clip

Bill, just don't remove the line from the slave and don't push the clutch pedal (I'd wire the pedal up or wedge a block of wood under it) once the slave is unbolted. Obviously letting the slave hang by the line would be a bad move, secure it out of the way with some wire or string through a bolt hole.

The horror stories only apply to trying to replace an old slave with a new one. Chrysler never intended for that to happen, the master and slave is supposed to be replaced as an assembly.

Ok good I was worried about messing something up. RB, all I am wanting to do is remove it from the bellhousing to swap out clutches.

They're right, it's no big deal. Just unbolt it and it hangs out of the way. I've done about a hundred of them and never a problem.

To replace the slave without messing with the master, press out the roll-pin at the line connection of the master and the fluid line and slave come out together, after unbolting the slave from the bell.

The line will even fit a Ford master in the same manner in which it fits a Dodge.
