shutoff solenoid

Ok guys it seems as though my shut off solenoid works good because i can take the wire off and it will shut off the truck however it is being stubborn and shutting off the truck when i am driving down the rough frost barren roads. I only have one wire hooked up to it and it would be the one that is pointed toward the side of the truck not the back of the truck on the solenoid. My question is do you need both of the wires hooked up? Also is there a manual shut off on these trucks? i saw the write up on the pull lever which i would like to install but i would also like to have a secondary way of shutting off the fuel flow if it can be done. If someone had a pic it would be great as the ones on the manual shutoff confuse me a little bit thanks guys

Replace that crappy spade terminal with a ring terminal. You have a flaky connection there now, that's what's causing the truck to shut down.

Take an 8MM wrench, remove the nut that is holding the two-bladed spade-terminal on the solenoid, cut off the female-spade-terminal from the solenoid wire, crimp and solder a ring-terminal onto the solenoid wire, put the ring-terminal over the stud on the solenoid and replace the 8MM nut.

Go ahead and fix up a kill-cable for when you "gut" the solenoid and don't have to worry with it anymore.

Ummm . . . .. it's OK to have a working fuel cut-off solenoid. Don't give in to peer pressure, just say "No!" to the pull-cable.

Its good to have a pull cable even on a stock truck, never know when that thing may stop working.

However 5 clothes hangers put together running through the cab with a ball of duct tape on the end as a handle is unacceptable
