Chevy 64" springs and a relocated rear hanger would probably put the axle in about the right spot. And ride better.

EDIT: is the body from a 38" frame or 34" frame truck? That in itself can cause more difficulties than the wheelbase issue.

Before you get crazy, look closely at the fuel fill. The entry into the tank points somewhat forward, and if you have the front box extend all the way back to the wheel, there isn't much room for the fill pipe. I had a frankenstein utility dump on my previous truck, and that was a small less-than-perfect detail. . .

Plasma cutter would make it easy and clean, but not everybody has one of those.

Everybody should own a saw-z-all.
I love my cordless one. My daughter and I even used to cut our Christmas tree down with from the wood behind the house.

Ha! Me too. Cut down last year's Christmas tree with the cordless Dewalt reciprocating saw. Made short work of it with a brush blade. And I agree: Sawzall should be the first power tool in everyone's tool box. Angle grinder should be the second.

I tend to agree but finding a service body for a single wheel truck that isn't a rot bucket or stupidly expensive or both can be tough around my neck of the woods. May be different elsewhere.

A local junkyard bought a fleet of service trucks a few years back. They were selling Knapheide single wheel beds cheap. I paid $400 for a nice one from FLA. I mounted it on the '93 in my signature that I sold. It took me a few months of searching until I find that deal. But I am a patient man, unless the bartender is inattentive.
