No A/C, dash lights going nuts.

Hey all, I've been slowly tracking down wiring troubles with the truck and my last issue is no A/C or wait to start.

Compressor most of the time never comes on, however if it is extremely hot outside, after driving for a while the wait to start light will start flashing like crazy. Followed by the WIF light to blink like mad, then the CEL. Once they all start blinking, they all shut off, CEL comes back and stays on, and after this weird turn of events I miraculously have A/C.

Once this happens, I can shut the truck off and back on, grid heaters come on and everything works fine until the truck is off for more than a few minutes.

Might be dumb to even ask but I'm not electrical savvy at all. Any ideas?

What year is your truck? I might have a manual.

Check your PM's

You most likely have a bad ground. Check the wire from the battery minus to the body.

Yup battery to engine block ground, battery to rad support ground, and wiring ground back on firewall around the exhaust down pipe area....there is also one up under the dash from the wiring to the steering column mounting studs. Remove grounds, sand to shiny metal all surfaces and re-install with a dab of di-electric grease if you have some, or some fluid film or other good lubricating fluid....not WD40 may as well spray on water for as well as that stuff works.

Checked and cleaned all grounds, no change. However you mentioned a ground to steering column studs underneath the dash. I do not have anything grounding there. Only grounds I could find under dash were two small wires and a strap all grounded to the gold bracket on the dash beam. Holds the wiper pulse relay or something
