seperating turbine housing from turbo

I am working at rebuilding/upgrading my H1C turbo. Any suggestions on how to seperate the turbine housing from the center section? I'm letting the penetrating oil soak in good while i work on the custom crossover. thanks in advance

Loosen up the bolts while the turbo is still on the manifold. Put a piece of thick plywood on the floor. Lay the turbo on its side on the plywood. Get a big hammer, 2 lb or so. Beat on the turbine housing until you see some movement. You are not trying to knock the housing off with the big hammer, just trying to shake things up and get it moving. Don't even try to knock it off with the big hammer, just let it lay there on its side while you beat on the housing. Once the big hammer has broken it loose, switch to a normal size hammer and gently tap the housing off, alternating side to side while turning the turbine so you make sure you are not binding it up.

It can be pretty frustrating so keep at it. The second time I had to do that, I had to get a torch and heat the housing up. The BFH method alone wasn't enough.

I used a 4lb sledge and even then it took some work.

The hammer did the trick, but i think the hour and a half of PB soak time helped out too. Now the turbo is back together with new bearings and seals and some goodies.

An air chisel with a hammer head attachement would have seperated with no problem.
