I am installing a used set of BD tow twins and I need to rotate the bottom turbo just a bit to get oil drains to align. I have lossened all 4 bolts but cannot get turbo body to rotate at the turbine housing. Any ideas?

 

Penetrating oil at the CHRA/turbine housing connection & deadblow hammer.

 

correct. support the comp section face up so the ehaust housing is not touching anything and use the dead blow to persuade the ex housing to separate downward. remember to strike the ex. housing in multiple locations (never on a bolt hole!) so it reduces binding and releases evenly. just be patient and persistent.

 

Thanks guys for the quick response. I did as dirrected and it worked well. I put the compressor housing in a " choke hold" with my left arm, and tapped (beat) on the exhaust housing with a dead blow, and it came apart well. I then used emery cloth, and wire brush to clear the rust, and then I could rotate freely.
