Roof Guttering rusting out

Hey guys!

I know the First Gen Rams have some issues with rust around the roof guttering. My old Ram is getting REALLY rusty up there, in fact that is really the only rust on the truck. My question for you guys is, is it a hard fix? I'm fairly decent at body and metal work, would it be feasible to fix it or should I get a professional to? I have often wondered if you could just do away with the guttering, is that possible? I just do not want it to completely rust away. Anybody out there done this fix? Thanks!

It is possible to remove the gutter altogether but you lose the strength of the roof as that is the point at which both inner and outer skins meet.

So it is possible, but will cause a loss in strength? If so then how could I fix it, without losing the strength?

I used por-15 putty all around the gutter Then just take a polisher pad and level it out.

Lots of guys have repaired them..

Just typed "roof gutter' in the search area.

How bad is it ? holes / separation / or just rusty surface ?

Post some pix, as I'm sure the passenger side above the windshield is the worst area, as that's where it's been on both of mine.

Ill try to get some shortly. Really rusty surface, one or two holes. I do not think it is bad enough to replace the roof yet.
