RV roof sealant for Aluminum roof..
Hey there, anybody have some advice for me?? I just purchased a new horse trailer with LQ and wanted to Re-seal the seam around the outside of it before the rainy season... It has a one piece aluminum roof and the dealer only has it sealed along the outside edge, around the antennas, and Vent. GOt up there today and it looks like a Hard rubber cement??? Looks OK, trailer is new, but I would like ot give it the once over.. Few little cracks that I can see. Any brands???? Thanks!

My preference has been Elixir Alkyd Fibered Roof Coating. Lays on smooth and comes in silver to easily blend in. Has yet to fully harden after 3 years!
It came recomended by my Dad who owns an RV repair shop.
After a good cleaning, I duct taped each side of the seam and painted it on with a 3" brush. After it cured for a while, I peeled the tape off. Leaves a nice uniform stripe.

Have it sprayed with a color matched bedliner like Line-X. It will never ever leak . I had a 10 yr old car trailer that leaked like crazy. Sprayed it and its been bone dry ever since.

Just a plain ole guy

I think this is the same stuff I have used. If I recall, you can apply it in the rain. What I used never sems to fully harden. If that's it, then that is some good stuff.

That's the stuff. I get it at Walmart, in the paint section. It is something like trailer roof treatment, or some such name. Goes on black, but dries silver. works great. I put it on really thick, to cover all the seams on my Avion (a silver bread-loaf).
The metalic component sinks to the bottom, so have it shaken (not stirred) at the store, then stir it when you open the can, to get the rubber stuff off the bottom.

Check out what is available here:

For seams they have Eternabond tape. I have used it for patches on RV roofs and it works great. They have a full line of roofing materials.
