replacing steady bearing

Hi, guy's I have found my vibration that has been irritatting me for two months. It is my steady bearing. It is sitting on my shop floor as we speak (so to speak) I was told it would come off with a few love taps from a rubber mallet. Not so, I beat the bejesus out of the thing and it is still sitting on the shaft. Is there a trick to getting this unit off without a press? Hope you guys can help me out on this one, cause I have to get to work tommorrow somehow.

You mean carrier bearing on the drive line? I think there pressed on in most applications.

If they don't tap right off, I generally get Ol Blue out and torch it. I've had some success with an air hammer too.
