Well I must be missing something at napa since it didn't seem like they had that pump. I'm just going to take it down to an auto shop and get them to pull the piece off and press it onto the new pump. I hope this just goes in with ease after I get it done .

Ok, you have a 93, that means intercooled with the vane style vacuum pump. Unplug your oil pressure sender, and take the whole assembly (2-15mm bolts) loose from the gear housing.

Once you have the pumps off, seperate them by pulling the bolts off the p/s pump and jiggling the p/s pump off the vac pump. You should not have to have anything pressed or pulled off by a machine shop. Simple wrenches will do the job.

Upon reassembly 15min later, make sure you have a new seal to go between the p/s and vac pumps, or you will leak engine oil. Heck, pay the $7.50 to get a new vac pump reseal kit from Cummins (I'll post the p-n when I find the receipt), and redo the vac pump.

Put it all back together and bleed the system. Installation of a power steering filter sounds like a good idea. ALso, refill it with power steering fluid- FSM says not to use ATF. It isnt any less costly to put the right fluid in the first time.

ITS DONE!!!

Haha, I couldn't help myself. My buddy helped me out a ton and using some redneck ingenuity we got that sucker off and on the new pump. I got the new pump in, bled the system and holy heck its like driving a new truck! So smooth and easy to steer. Parking lots and cul-de-sacs don't scare me as much anymore .

It was pressed on. A little grease and some heat helped it go on nicely.
