so after a few months of building my engine i find out that i need a new block. i will be replacing it with one i found for $200 with 90k on the clock. i have not noticed any issues with my clutch yet but after the upgrades i have ready to go in i figure i might. so my question is, should i get a new clutch while i have access to it? if so, how hard is it to install and what kind should i go with? the mods will be, ddp stage 2, super b turbo with 4" turbo back, cooler tubz, ps/ic, low press piston lp, and basic pump tweaks. i dont think that will bring me to much power but im not sure what the stck clutch is good for. with a brandy new head and all those mods how much power do you think i will have?

 

Hard for me to guess how much power you'll be putting out but the con OFE clutch from southbend is rated to hold 475hp. At least, that's the rating for mine with the nv5600. I'm not sure if it changes with the ol' rag.

 

I would think that the stock clutch would hold what you have. I have heard they are good to like 300 hp. BUT, if you have money to spend, I would consider a SB clutch, since your already in there. It really depends on what YOU are going to do with it. Heavy towing, drag racing, daily driver, light towing ? Depends on the use of it IMO for what route you go.
