Removing VE Injection pump question

Ohh that sucks! Hope the gear didn't get wrecked? Make sure you chase those threads....and put a rag or something to try and catch the small metal pieces as your cleaning it out.

The threads didn't look damaged at all so I'm guessing just weak bolts.. But it is kind of hard to see in there. They were from a steering wheel puller kit from the 90s. I'll post tomorrow with what happens!

As stated above be sure to put a rag below the gear. If it were me I'd get a tap to chase the threads just to be sure, grease up the tap with gun grease to help catch the cuttings. As Jim stated you can use the bolts from the grid heater, not sure how hard they are but I used them pulling my pump and I put alot of pressure on them. You may have a key that was installed offset just a touch off making it very difficult to remove, I know I've been there done that!! Good luck!!

Well got the pump in and she runs! Tool it for a test drive and there's some white / grey smoke at wot. Does this mean I have to advance the timing a bit?
